Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing or using AutismScreen ("the App"), or by using the free check on this website, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App or this site.

2. Description of service

AutismScreen is an educational milestone journal and visual support app for parents and caregivers of toddlers aged 16–30 months. It provides tools based on published developmental milestone research to help you record observations and follow your child's developmental progress.

The ten-activity check on this website is a free observation aid. It gives you prompts to try at home and a summary you can copy, print or save. It produces no score and no risk band, and it is not a substitute for the App or for clinical assessment.

3. Medical disclaimer

AutismScreen is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnoses. The screening tools, observation logs, milestone trackers and generated reports are for educational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider, such as a developmental paediatrician, child psychologist or child neurologist, with any question about your child's medical condition or developmental evaluation. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of information provided by this App.

4. Purchases and payments

AutismScreen offers a free tier with basic features and a one-time premium upgrade ("AutismScreen Pro"), sold as a non-consumable in-app purchase. The web check is free and needs no purchase.

5. User conduct

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose, which is tracking your child's developmental progress. You may not:

6. Intellectual property

All content, features and functionality of the App, including text, graphics, logos, icons, images and software, belong to AutismScreen and are protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. Third-party instruments reproduced in the App remain the property of their respective copyright holders.

The M-CHAT-R/F screening instrument is © 2009 Diana Robins, Deborah Fein and Marianne Barton. All rights in the instrument, its items, instructions and scoring remain with the copyright holders. AutismScreen is an independent publication, is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the M-CHAT-R/F authors or their institutions, and nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in the instrument itself.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AutismScreen and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, use or goodwill, resulting from:

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Changes to terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes appear here with a new date at the top, and in the App with an updated date. Continuing to use the App or this website after a change means you accept the new Terms.
