Ten everyday moments worth noticing

A five-minute observation check for parents of children aged 16–30 months. Try each activity with your child, note what happened, and take the summary to your paediatrician or health visitor.

This is not a screening test, not a score, and not a diagnosis. It does not tell you whether your child is autistic. Only a qualified clinician can do that.

Try each one with your child

Pick the answer that fits today. Children have good and bad days, so one “not yet” on its own means very little. Answers stay in this browser.

Answer all ten to build your note.

What this is, and what it is not

It is an observation aid

Ten activities drawn from ordinary toddler development. Each one gives you something concrete to watch for, and a shared language for the conversation with your clinician.

It is not a screening tool

There is no validated instrument behind these ten prompts, no cut-off, and no risk band. Do not use the summary as evidence for or against a diagnosis.

It is not private data collection

No account, no server, no analytics, no cookies. Answers are stored in your browser only and disappear when you clear them.

It is not the M-CHAT-R/F

The validated M-CHAT-R/F questionnaire is © 2009 Robins, Fein and Barton, and is distributed by its authors at mchatscreen.com. AutismScreen is not affiliated with them, and this page does not reproduce their items.

If something worries you

Trust your instinct and raise it. You do not need a reason that sounds serious enough. In most countries you can ask for a developmental review without a referral, and early support is not reserved for children with a diagnosis.

Keep the record between appointments

AutismScreen is an iPhone app for logging observations, tracking CDC milestones, and exporting a one-page summary for your clinician. Free to download; the full record export is a one-off unlock.
